Rojo says: I've always been a little weird because I LOVE being around people! That's why my owners decided to get me certified in 2007 through the DoveLewis Animal-Assisted Therapy Program in Portland, OR. My roommate Smokey also passed his certification with flying colors, and now we also have a rescued llama named Beni, and two very sweet alpacas named Napoleon and Eduardo that also do therapy visitation. Altogether we have completed over 400 therapy visits throughout the Portland/Vancouver area! We leave the farm for at least two or three times every week to visit kids with special needs and old folks in retirement homes. We also get to do lots of fun parties and PR events throughout the year down in the "big city" of Portland - I love it when everybody freaks out when they see us walking around town!

WELCOME TO BESAWS 110TH ANNIVERSARY BLOG!

Originally a beer parlor and gambling hall catering to loggers and longshoremen, Besaw's was born in 1903 and immediately became a success with locals and tourists alike.

Now, on its 110th birthday, we invite you to 

Besaw's "Grand Outdoors Bizarre!"

Join us on Saturday, August 24th; we'll be closing down the block all day for a lavish celebration filled with oddities, eccentricities, and all the llamas you can kiss. (Seriously.) Brandish your brawn in honor of our longshoremen forebears with tests of strength! Eat your weight in corn dogs, a miraculous marvel of modernity! Learn to breathe fire... or, for legal purposes, perhaps we'll just let you watch someone else do it! There'll be exhibits, live music, food, magic, mystery, you name it (there may even be a Prohibition-era "speakeasy" to help quench your thirst, wink wink nudge nudge knowwhatimean?!) 

Keep your eyes and ears open for details as we approach the day when we take this 110-year-old lady out for a spin; she's never looked better!
